A normal kitchen cloth under a microscope appears teaming with billions of harmful bacteria (see information box below) that can be spread across the entire kitchen. By contrast, these microfibre pads and sponges are naturally antibacterial thanks to the embedded silver yarn.
One side soft, the other rough – suitable for any application.
Tiles, sinks, and dishes are hygienically cleaned with the soft side with just a wipe. Unpleasant odours are prevented. Stable polyamide fibres are worked into the other side to loosen stubborn stains.
Even at a 60°C wash, the colloidal silver is not washed out and remains active.
The extremely fine silver fibres are tightly woven into the microfibre in a complicated process. Silver has the ability to prevent bacteria, fungus and germs from metabolising and is consequently already used in many areas of medicine.
Pads: 77% polyester, 21% polyKmide, 2% silver yarn; 15x20cm (6" x 8"). Sponges: 25% polypropylene, 68% polyester, 5% polyamide, 2% silver yarn, PU foam; 10 x 2 x13cm (4" x 4/5" x 5"). Machine wash up to 60°C.
It‘s hard to believe, but: „Kitchen towels and dish cloths are the dirtiest objects in the house.“
A study by the international Hygiene Council revealed: „in Germany, 85% of kitchen cloths examined showed a serious level of bacteria present, even if they appeared to be clean.“ (Source: www.pharma-zeitung.de) In a study undertaken by microbiologist Charles Gerba, University of Arizona, scientists found almost seven billion bacteria on a large dishcloth or cleaning sponge. Microfibre provides much more absorption than cotton.
The star-shaped fibres create an extra large surface area that not only absorbs moisture extremely quickly using capillary action, but also releases it again quickly. This means that microfibre dries much faster than cotton. It doesn’t need to be washed at such high temperatures as cotton, and yet never smells mouldy. Thanks to the high fibre density, you can often use microfibre cloths effectively without cleaning products.
