The original Madras shirt – traditionally woven by hand in India.

By OMTC – the Original Madras Trading Company, New York.

The brightly coloured checked Madras shirt is a popular summer perennial and has proven itself many times in the heat of India. But only rarely does the airy, light cotton fabric really originate from there. And only in exceptional cases is it still made on real handlooms.
Since the 1970s, the Original Madras Trading Company has been taking India’s classic fabric all over the world.
The Indian-American family-run business, based in New York’s Garment District (the city’s famous textile district), supplies almost all the well-known menswear brands – and now also produces its own shirts in the country of origin. Incidentally, the fabric owes its name to the Indian city of Madras, known today as Chennai. Button-down collar. Sewn-on breast pocket. 1-button slit cuffs.

Tailor Fit: slightly tailored – contemporary, but comfortable. Length in size 40: 78.5cm (30.9"). 100% cotton. Machine washable.
