All-natural salt crystals, traditionally harvested and sun-dried.

In the southeast of Mallorca is a unique, protected natural landscape of dunes, pristine wetlands and one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, the Es Trenc. Today it’s home to nearly 150 bird species, including white-tailed eagles and flamingos. In the 4th century BC, the Phoenicians and Romans found this area to have the ideal waters for producing their precious sea salt.
The natural salt needs about six months to mature into the “white gold” of Majorca.
The crystal clear and very salty sea water (35g/litre), flows directly from Es Trenc into the salt pans. Upstream, seagrass meadows continuously filter the water and give it its high level of purity. Sunlight and sea breezes cause the brine to evaporate to reach a salinity of up to 250g/litre. As a result, thin salt crystals form in the basins of the salt pans, which are carefully raked from the surface of the water by hand and then dried in the sun.
