Zalto Denk’Art Burgundy Glass, Bordeaux Glass or White Wine Glass
A variety of wine glasses were tested and these are the winners.
Mouth-blown, innovatively designed Denk'Art glasses from the region of Zalto, Austria.
On behalf of the magazine “Stern” * a high-profile jury of experts tested white wine, Bordeaux and Burgundy glasses from 10 major glass manufacturers. Blindfolded they evaluated which glass presents the wine in the best and most typical manner. They also evaluated which glass is the most pleasant to hold, has the best balance and provides the best mouth feel.
The mouth-blown glasses of Zalto Denk’Art, Austria were the winners in all 3 categories (not least because of their low price).
Extremely thin, brilliant and perfectly translucent. Also shock-proof, dishwasher-safe and resistant to turbidity.
Although the glasses look delicate, they are extremely resistant and durable. After production they are slowly cooled down from 1000°C over a period of 24 hours. This makes them more elastic and less prone to breakage than rapidly cooled glasses. The lead and barium free crystal glasses with delicately shimmering colour nuances preserve their sparkling lustre even after they’ve been in the dishwasher many times and do not develop a blue haze.
Co-developed by the Austrian priest and wine expert Hans Denk.
Together with specialists from Zalto and other top winemakers Hans Denk has optimised the shapes of these glasses over a period of 1.5 years. Choose the burgundy glass for powerful, expressive wines with more than 13% alcohol. The glass integrates the acid in the fruit and enhances its bouquet and sweet components. The Bordeaux glass accentuates the fullness and intensity of characterful red wines. Designed for Riesling, Muscadet, Sauvignon Blanc etc., the white wine glass is also recommended for medium bodied reds that are not barrel aged.
The experts are excited:„These glasses provide a sensory experience. Their proportions are in perfect harmony and they not only improve a good wine, but also a beautifully set table.“
