Premium saffron does not have to cost a fortune.

A world renowned rarity recommended by German starred chef Thomas Martin.

Wild saffron crocuses were cultivated in Western Asia some 5,000 years ago. Today, the tradition of growing saffron continues in Iran where the superb spice can often cost more than the equivalent of £7 per gram. However, we have been able to secure a limited quantity of this exquisite spice at an affordable price.
Not all saffron is alike.
Genuine saffron is measured by its colouring strength – the greater the colouring strength, the higher the quality. With top quality "Sargol" saffron the deep red stigmas have been deftly cut by hand and then separated from the lighter coloured styles. This tedious job requires a lot of experience and skill. Saffron of this quality may only contain a max. of 5% yellow plant parts (styles). Only the precious stigmas contain the distinct flavour Safranal, Crocin which gives saffron its hue and the bittersweet compound Picrocrocine.
The best Sargol saffron quality (category I, ISO 3632-2).
This saffron has a distinct, spicy flavour, a strong bittersweet aroma and an intense red colour.
Even the German starred chef Thomas Martin is convinced and impressed by this saffron.
The chef of Jacobs Restaurant, one of the finest culinary addresses in Hamburg, Germany, uses this saffron to add a distinctive aroma to his food creations. Now you can give your food the characteristic golden hue of saffron, too. You will only need a few threads – whether you make paella, bouillabaisse, risotto milanese or spaghetti – so your saffron supply will last a long time. Shelf life two years. 5g (0.2 oz) in a glass. Colouring strength 95%. Order now – also makes a great gift for all of your gourmet friends. Exclusive to Pro-Idee.
