The blanket with over 100 years of history and traditional pattern from Lesotho.

An elegant cape in Africa. For you an extraordinary blanket full of ethnic charm.

At the end of the 19th century, British merchants handed a woollen blanket as a gift to King Moshoeshoe of Basutoland. A precious commodity in the icy mountainous region of the Kingdom of Lesotho. The king wore it every day from then onwards. Today, such blankets in various designs are elegantly draped around the shoulders as part of traditional costumes worn for special occasions, for example for weddings or births.

In the centre you can see the huge, many-leafed spiralling succulent aloe plant. This endangered plant exists only in the Maloti mountains of Lesotho. Also typical are the serrated shields and the stylized mokorotlo straw hats, the conical headgear of the Basotho. The blue/white/green national flag of the Kingdom of Lesotho has exactly such a hat as a striking emblem.

The variety of clear, geometric patterns gives the design its exotic look. The classic black and white colourway is shown on the front and back of the blanket in positive/negative look, with just four blue woven stripes on both sides. The blanket has two beautiful features: It has a very sophisticated effect and is elegant when draped.
Comfortable to wrap around you.
Woven in a material blend which has been densely felted, the blanket keeps you warm, and is soft and light. Very comfortable on the sofa and for cool evenings on the terrace.
