Berlin Brass Mushroom Lamp

The shining legend of the “Berliner Messinglampen” factory.

  • In the style of the oil lamps of the Art Nouveau period – but skilfully modernised.
  • Just like in the past, the dome of opal glass is mouth-blown.
  • Made from brass, carefully manufactured – patinised by hand.

The shining legend of the “Berliner Messinglampen” factory.

A classic from the early days of electricity. Accurate in every detail, made of solid brass and mouth-blown opal glass.

When the first electric lanterns were lit in Berlin in 1888, this sparked a new era – and a storm of enthusiasm. Like the original, this mushroom lamp is traditionally manufactured, but using today’s technology. Perfect for classical furniture – and attractive as a contrast to modern design.
In the style of the oil lamps of the Art Nouveau period – but skilfully modernised.
Whereas oil lamps needed an air inlet, the new electric lights were crowned by a closed glass dome with three screws attached to the bracket. Instead of lavish decoration, the lamps were given a new, simple design.
Just like in the past, the dome of opal glass is mouth-blown.
The milky white opal glass provides bright but gently tempered light. It illuminates the room evenly without glare and is ideal for reading and working.
Made from brass, carefully manufactured – patinised by hand.
The stepped, solid brass base (diameter 14cm (5.5")) and the ribbed upright (diameter 2.5cm (1")) provide firm support. Even the pull switch and socket are made of brass. Patination gives a beautiful nostalgic, lively shine. Size: 42cm (16.5") high; the shade has a diameter of 25cm (9.8"). Weight: 1.8kg (4 lbs). 1.9m (6.2ft textile cable for 250V/max. 75W. Metal E27 socket.
