A magical northern light in a ceramic lamp with Swedish gnome figure.
Designed and painted by hand for the renowned manufacturer Nääsgränsgården.
When it’s cold and stormy outside, this mood lamp will warm the heart with its cheeky design. Prizewinning Swedish designer Lena Qvick Ström designed this ceramic object with humour. Alone or grouped together, it’s magic will catch everyone’s eye on your windowsill, dining table or shelf.
The gnome (“tomte”) has its place in Swedish folklore.
He was thought to be the guardian spirit of the Swedish home and its human and animal inhabitants since ancient times. Here, he is clearly indulging in a little break, sitting on the red and white roof of a toadstool with legs stretched out, with his grey pointed cap pulled down over his face for a nap. A tealight casts a cosy glow from inside the house (separately available). The light shining through the apertures casts a charm over the darkness.
Each ceramic object is lovingly hand-painted and glazed.
Baked at approx. 1,000°C, the dolomite ceramic is robust and durable. The glazing gives it a nice sheen and adds radiance to the colours. Rear opening. Lined underneath to prevent damage to furniture. Three sizes: 14, 17 and 21cm (5 1⁄2", 6 2⁄3" and 8 1⁄3") in height. Weights 160g, 270g and 590g (5.6 oz, 9.5 oz and 20.8 oz).
