Back in vogue: The cloche hat from the twenties. More flexible and hard-wearing than most other hats.

Made of durable linen and hemp fibres sewn together. By Mayser, hat makers since 1800.

In keeping with the bob haircut which was the trend at the time, the distinctive bell-shaped hat was created in the roaring twenties. Now both haircut and hat are back in fashion again. Don’t worry if you put this light and airy cloche hat in a fully packed suitcase – it will always emerge pristine. Its weave is soft and flexible, yet indestructible because of the materials used: Thin strands of airy linen, tear-resistant hemp and polyester fibres are twisted together. Plus, it’s elaborately fashioned according to
an almost forgotten technique from 1833.
Traditional hat makers Mayser have revived an old sewing technique: The fine fibres are sewn together straight into the distinctive hat shape using special machines that have become very rare. The result is a very flexible hat you can crush without hesitation.
