As robust as ever, but with modern comfort.

The 1000 mile boots by Wolverine/USA – now made from supple Chromexcel® cowhide leather.

Often seen in old paintings of American workers from the early 20th century: Wolverine’s classic 1000 mile boots. In those days, they were made of shiny horse leather – although durable and hard-wearing, it was also inflexible and sometimes very hard.
The contemporary version is soft and flexible thanks to Chromexcel® cowhide leather.
Like the leather of old, Chromexcel® comes from Horween and Co., the renowned traditional tannery on the outskirts of Chicago. It is made using a complicated, closely guarded secret recipe: 28 days and all five floors of the factory are needed to complete the 89 different operations. Well worth the effort: The water-repellent leather feels smooth and supple. And at the same time preserves the almost indestructible character of this enduring favourite.
Traditionally welted in the USA according to the “Goodyear welt” process.
For over 125 years, the durability and reliable performance have been the distinguishing features of Wolverine – one of the oldest footwear brands in the world. Therefore, the outsole, insole and shaft have been joined using the “Goodyear welt” method. An elaborate process, which is otherwise only found on expensive business shoes. The lengthy (and often arduous) breaking-in of the shoes is not needed. Four copper eyelets and three copper lace hooks guarantee a perfect fit. The seams are extra strong and therefore long lasting.

Upper, lining and insole: Genuine cowhide (Chromexcel®). Outsole made of layered leather. Made in the USA.
