Classic: the timeless aviator look. Now modern again: the double nosebridge.
Men’s sunglasses with posh understatement. By Joop!.
They are absolutely imperative for classic sunglasses in aviator style. Now frames with double nosebridge have once again become important in the current glasses fashion: These contemporary aviators by Joop! are the right choice for anyone who values minimalism and understatement. Consequently, the brand emblem is very discreetly placed on the top of the left side piece.
The original aviator was developed for U.S. Air Force pilots.
Beginning in 1937 they protected their eyes from the strong UV radiation. The straight double nosebridge had two functions at once: It stabilised the thinly rimmed metal frame and didn’t – unlike round lenses – hit against the edge of the leather helmet typical of that time in aviation. A purely functional construction that was re-discovered in the 70s and became a style icon in no time at all.
