Rare and precious: Cushions made of 100-year-old, hand-woven linen.
Each piece is antique and one of a kind. Hand-printed with filigree botanical motifs.
In the south of Bavaria, it was an old custom to weave the linen for the dowry of the peasant women by hand. The tireless rattling of the heavy wooden looms in the parlours accompanied the diligence of swift hands. Beautiful select linen fabrics like these were treasured in a family. It took over 30 years to acquire a few bales of these textile gems. Careful washing brought the full beauty back to life. They are still robust after all the years. The yarn used always varies slightly in fineness and colour. Each fabric is therefore unique, with its own character.
The hand-printed black botanical motifs stand out like delicate silhouettes.
Achillea, martagon lily, grasses and dianthus form the charming nostalgic flower border. The prints come from a Hanoverian manufactory, which stringently depends on pure handcraft. The dye is hand-stirred and GOTS certified (Global Organic Textile Standard).
