In Brittany, where the fiercest winds blow, sailors have been wearing these shirts since time immemorial. But not just sailors: The original Brittany shirts are already considered cultural artefacts in France.
However, these originals are hard to find outside of France. The unusually close-knit quality in fine cotton twine is extremely hardwearing and is, to this day, still highly esteemed the world over, even by non-sailors.
Of course the coloured stripes are woven into the fabric and not merely printed on so the colours won’t fade after washing. The workmanship makes them extremely tough and long lasting – a friend for life. Fine knit cotton jersey (205g/m2 or 7 oz/sqyd) with a shot of elastane – for a slim fit. With a slightly more generous round neck. Available for men as a short-sleeve shirt with ecru/navy stripes (length in size 38/40: 72cm/ 28 1⁄3"). 96% cotton, 4% elastane. Machine wash at 30°C. Made in France.
