Only few belt manufacturers use eel leather. That’s because the skins are extremely thin and narrow and can only be processed by hand. This requires great skill and is very time-consuming.
But that’s what makes these eel leather belts so exquisite and rare. Made by the experienced belt makers of Paolo da Ponte.
Striking grain, rich colouring.
The fine horizontal pin-stripes from the dorsal fin are an unmistakable feature of genuine eel skin. The naturally grey skins absorb dyes particularly well. This creates an unusually rich and lasting colour. The calfskin core makes it durable and elastic. The in-between sections are made from silky nubuck leather to tone down the sheen.
