The new Danish watch brand Bering is still disgracefully unknown. However, the straightforward design of these elegant watches is certainly one worthy of a design award. The bezel is made from Ceramic which is an anorganic material developed for space research – harder than most kinds of steel, yet super lightweight. Ceramic does not rust, it is anti-magnetic, it can withstand extreme temperatures, and can do without any special care. In short, it is an ideal material for these light, super-slim watches. It’s mere height of 6mm makes it easy to slide them under the cuff of every shirt or blouse. No chafing from a projecting watch glass, no weighty crown to bother you. And all this at an exceptionally favourable price – for now.
Silvery chrome-plated hands are an elegant contrast to the deep black dial.
No markings, no fussy decorations. A double bezel in stainless steel and Ceramic surrounds the sapphire watch crystal which is scratch resistant, non-reflecting and completely level (which is actually more shatterproof than convex watch glass). The stainless steel bars which hold the soft black nappa leather wristband with its classic clasp have been skilfully incorporated into the frame. The wrist strap comes in a width of 20mm or 16mm respectively and is held in place with fine screws (instead of the usual spring pins) and will never come loose.
So refined: The angled caseback makes the flat construction even more obvious.
Premium precision Mijota 9T22 quartz movement. Accuracy ±10 sec./mon. Water resistant up to 5 atm. Works approx. 2 years with supplied watch battery (SR616SW 321).
The gents’ watch measures 3.5cm (1 2⁄5") in diam. and weighs 35g (1.2 oz). The ladies’ watch measures 3cm (1 1⁄5") in diam. and weighs approx. 24g (0.8 oz).
