To this day, peace pipes are still handmade with loving devotion - and each piece is a one of a kind. The bowl of the pipe, which is said to symbolise Mother Earth, is made from genuine deer antler, together with the mouthpiece. The pipe stem, which symbolises the evolution of man, is wrapped in leather bands and strung beads, and adorned with lithic arrowheads. The fringes, which are made from buckskin and horsehair, as well as the magnificent duck feathers, are said to convey the positive characteristics of the animals; the corn-shaped beads, made from bone and glass, bring about an abundance of food. A buckskin tobacco pouch accommodates supplies for the next pipe. Measures 35cm (13 7/10") in length, max. 15cm (6") high. Weighs 190g (6.7 oz).
